    You are warmly invited to attend the Zeta Gamma Chapter New Member Orientation on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM CST via Zoom.

    This orientation is open to all newly inducted members, as well as current members who would like a refresher on the many opportunities and benefits Sigma offers. Whether you are new to Sigma or looking to become more engaged in chapter activities, we encourage you to join us.

  • New Officers Elected

    Please join us in congratulating our newly elected Sigma Theta Tau Zeta Gamma Chapter officers!

    🎉 Debbie Almeida has been elected as our new Treasurer.
    🎉 Dr. Sylvia Waweru-Smith has been elected as our new Secretary.

    We are grateful for their willingness to serve and support the mission and continued growth of our chapter. Their leadership, dedication, and commitment to nursing excellence will be a tremendous asset to Sigma Theta Tau Zeta Gamma.

  • 2nd Call for Nominations

    We are seeking nominations for two upcoming leadership positions within our chapter: Secretary and Treasurer, with terms beginning April 1, 2026. Each position carries a two-year term, and we encourage members to consider nominating themselves or a colleague who demonstrates leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to Sigma's mission.

    Position Responsibilities:

    Secretary

    • Prepares and distributes meeting minutes
    • Manages chapter correspondence

    Treasurer

    • Serves as custodian of chapter funds
    • Develops and proposes the chapter budget to the board

    Serving in a leadership role is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the growth and sustainability of our chapter while advancing your professional development and engagement.

    Sigma Theta Tau International Zeta Gamma Chapter, we are pleased to share information about the 2nd Annual Leadership Symposium, hosted by the University of South Alabama College of Nursing, USA Health Nursing Leadership Institute, and Sigma Theta Tau International (Zeta Gamma Chapter). 

    This free, half-day symposium is designed for current and aspiring nurse leaders and focuses on leadership development, collaboration, and evidence-based practice.   • Congratulations to Our Biennial Convention Award Recipient!

    Congratulations to Our Biennial Convention Award Recipient!

    I am happy to announce that Dr. Ashleigh Bowman, Associate Professor in the Maternal Child Health Nursing Department, has been selected to receive the Biennial Convention Award.

    This award provides up to $1500 reimbursement for travel costs and/or attendance associated with the 48th Sigma Theta Tau Biennial Convention on November 8-12th, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

    Dr. Bowman will present findings and recommendations on nurse-led opportunities for innovation in health care delivery to improve child health and well-being.  These findings relate to her time serving on a National Academies of Science ad hoc committee.

  • STT Zeta Gamma Fall Research Grant Opportunities and Convention Award Opportunity

    This Fall semester the STT Zeta Gamma Chapter is proud to announce that we have THREE nursing research grant opportunities available and ONE convention award opportunity available.

    Research Grant Opportunities:

    1.   USA Undergraduate Nursing Research

    The Fall undergraduate research grant application sponsored by Sigma Theta Tau Zeta Gamma Chapter is now available.

    WHO: Open to all undergraduate students at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing.

    What: Grant funding to support undergraduate research, evidence-based projects, and/or quality improvement initiatives.

    WHEN: Deadline for submission is September 30, 2025 for Fall semester.

    AMOUNT: One award for up to $250.

    HOW: Complete the attached Undergraduate Nursing Research application located on the Discussions page.

    2.   USA Graduate Nursing Research

    The Fall graduate research grant application sponsored by Sigma Theta Tau Zeta Gamma Chapter is now available.

    WHO: Open to all graduate students at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing.

    WHAT: Grant funding to support graduate research, evidence-based projects, and/or quality improvement initiatives.

    WHEN: Deadline for submission is September 30, 2025 for Fall semester.

    AMOUNT: One award for up to $500. An additional $500 will be awarded upon completion of the dissemination of the research results.

    HOW: Complete the attached Graduate Nursing Research application located on the Discussions page.

    3.   Zeta Gamma Member Research

    The Fall Zeta Gamma Member research grant application sponsored by Sigma Theta Tau Zeta Gamma Chapter is now available.

    WHO: Open to all STT ZG Members

    WHAT: Grant funding to support post graduate work

    WHEN: Deadline for submission is September 30, 2025.

    AMOUNT: One award up to $1000. Dissemination of results is required.

    HOW: Complete the attached Zeta Gamma Member Research application located on the Discussions page.

    Biennial Convention Award Opportunity:

    4.   Biennial Convention

    Zeta Gamma members accepted to present at the Sigma Theta Tau Biennial Convention are eligible to apply for a travel reimbursement opportunity.  Two recipients will be awarded up to $1500 reimbursement for associated travel costs and/or attendance of the 48th Biennial Convention on November 8-12th, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

    Deadline for applications is Sept 15th.  The award recipient will be notified by October 15th.  Receipts should be submitted to sttzgawards@southalabama.edu within one month of awardees' return from the trip.  Funding will be provided once receipts are reviewed.
