  • Update Regarding Xi Sigma Induction – Weather Advisory

    Dear Induction Participants and Guests,

    I am reaching out in advance regarding the Xi Sigma Induction Ceremony scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026. Due to the potential for severe weather this weekend, I wanted to share an important update so you can plan accordingly.

    Northern Michigan University has issued a travel advisory for March 15, 2026, as several reliable forecasts are predicting the possibility of extreme weather conditions, particularly on Sunday. Current projections also suggest that the Mackinac Bridge may experience periodic closures, and driving conditions throughout the region could become very difficult.

    At this time, if NMU closes on Monday (3/16/26) due to inclement weather, the Xi Sigma Induction Ceremony will be canceled for that day.

    Please know that Xi Sigma is already working on identifying an alternative date for the ceremony, as this is an important event for our inductees and their families. If necessary, we are hopeful that the ceremony may be rescheduled during final exam week. Additional information will be shared if a change becomes necessary.

    I wanted to communicate this information early so that those traveling for the event—especially family members—can plan accordingly and prioritize safety.
