Our chapter is located at Blessing Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Blessing College is located in Quincy Illinois which is in west central Illinois along the Mississippi River.

Susan McReynolds (right) receives Leadership Award at the General Business Meeting of PiPI on May 18th, 2020. Susan was nominated by Connie Scott and Marianne Schmitt. Susan is completing six years on the board including two as president. Susan continues to lead our Membership Involvement committee and is now the elected Region 5 Coordinator for Sigma. Congrats Susan! Susan also received a pin for her years of service as the president of PiPi chapter.

Representing Pi Pi at STTI Bienniel Nov 16-20th 2019
Thank-you to Marianne Schmitt and Susan McReynolds for representing PiPi at the Biennial Convention in Washington DC.

Four PiPi Members receive their doctorate degrees
Jan Akright, PhD, RN, Academic Dean, earned a PhD in Nursing
from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
• Erica Alexander, PhD, RN, CNE, Associate Professor, Simulation
Center Coordinator, earned her PhD in Nursing from the University
of Missouri, Kansas City.
• Brandi Venvertloh, PhD, RN, CPN, Associate Professor, earned her
PhD in Nursing Education from University of Northern Colorado.
• Kimi Yuchs, DNP, RN, NE-BC, Assistant Professor, earned a
Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in Organizational and Systems
Leadership from University of Southern Indiana.

  • December 2024 Outstanding Student Award

    Lindsey Baugh RN BSN was awarded the Outstanding Student Performance Award in Clinical Nursing Practice at the Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences Commencement Ceremony December 13, 2024.  An engraved award plaque was given.

  • Pi Pi Chapter Holds Induction Ceremony

    Pi Pi held its induction ceremony October 17, 2024 with Dr. Sandra Bibb, President, Sigma Theta Tau International as the Keynote Speaker. Fifteen undergraduate students, six RN-BSN students, three MSN students and one Nurse Leader were inducted for a total of twenty-five new Pi Pi members.

  • Founder’s Day Filter Build Service Event Huge Success!

    Pi Pi Chapter hosted a “water filter build” service event in celebration of Sigma’s Founder’s Day on October 21, 2024.  Pi Pi worked with Cross Rivers Financial Group (a Thrivent Financial Group) to secure a grant to fund the service event and partnered with the not for profit organization “Wine to Water” to supply them with the water filters to be used in communities around the globe to provide clean water.  We had 20 participants at the event with 16 Pi Pi members and built 50 filters.

  • Dr. Josey Harris receives Nurse Leader Award

    Josey Harris EdD, MSN, RNC-OB (right) receives Excellence in Leadership Award at the Pi Pi Induction ceremony on October 17, 2024 from Marianne Schmitt, Awards Committee, Chair (left).  Josey was nominated by Lisa King.  Josey is Associate Professor, Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences and was presented the award for being an exceptional nurse leader who creates an atmosphere to inspire new faculty and for her patience and willingness to share her knowledge and expertise to help Lisa transition into her role as the Governance Committee, Chair.  This quote from Dr. Myles Monroe reflects Josey’s leadership qualities: “The capacity to influence others through inspiration motivated by a passion, generated by a vision, produced by a conviction, and ignited by a purpose.”

  • Pam Shaffer receives Nurse Leader Award

    Pam Shaffer BSN, RN (left) receives Excellence in Leadership Award at the Pi Pi Induction ceremony on October 17, 2024 from Marianne Schmitt, Awards Committee, Chair (right).  Pam was nominated by Connie Scott, Marianne Schmitt and Margie Williams.  Pam is the retired Executive Director of the Adams County Red Cross and has been a tremendous voice and leader for the nursing profession during her 39 year nursing career and continues to represent the nursing perspective throughout the community and region by serving on numerous boards and committees.  An engraved award plaque was given.

  • Abby Ehrhardt MSN, RN's presentation at the October 18, 2024 Research Day

    "Changing Student’s Attitudes Toward Poverty: An Innovative Community Health Clinical” was presented by Abby Ehrhardt MSN, RN at the Pi Pi Chapter's 31st Annual Research Day on October 18, 2024 in Quincy, IL.

    "The Impact of Covid-19 on New Nurses’ Transition to Professional Practice" was presented by Lindsey Ratermann MSN, RN, CPN at the Pi Pi Chapter's 31st Annual Research Day on October 18, 2024 in Quincy, IL.

  • Dr. Christian's White's Presentation at the October 18, 2024 Research Day

    "The Persistence Experience of Male Nursing Students Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)" was presented by Dr. Christian White PhD, RN, MBA, PMH-BC at the Pi Pi Chapter's 31st Annual Research Day on October 18, 2024 in Quincy, IL.

  • 2024 Outstanding Pi Pi Student Awards

    Chandler Waelder (right) was awarded the Outstanding Student Performance Award in Clinical Practice and Eric Byerly (left) was awarded the Outstanding Student Award in Leadership.  Awards were presented at the Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences Commencement Ceremony May 10, 2024.  Engraved award plaques were given.
