  • Omicron Omega Board of Directors Election Ballot Nominations!

    Dear Omicron Omega Chapter Members!

    It’s that time of year and your North Coast Nursing Community needs you! Omicron Omega Chapter 382 of Sigma Nursing (formerly known as Sigma Theta Tau International) is accepting nominations for the upcoming chapter Board of Directors election.

    Please submit your nomination via e-mail to STTIOmicronOmega@gmail.com with BALLOT NOMINATION in the Subject line.

    Nominations will be accepted until Sunday May 19th, 2026 at 7:00pm.

    Omicron Omega Leadership Succession Committee 2026

    Time Commitment: Time varies per position, but usually it is a couple of hours per month with most communication via e-mail. The chapter board of director’s meeting schedule is called by the current chapter president and may include Zoom or in-person meetings, depending on the board’s availability and preferences. 

    Requirements: Active Sigma Nursing Member Status in the Omicron Omega Chapter.

    Chapter officer positions are two-year terms (unless otherwise indicated), and the Leadership Succession Committee is a one-year term. Shortened terms are due to board vacancy in that position and must be opened to a vote in the next chapter election. 

    You must maintain active member status in Sigma Nursing and in the Omicron Omega Chapter while serving in these roles.

    President 2026-2028: administers all business of the chapter, serves as chief representative of the chapter in inter-chapter activities, and can be an ex-officio member of all committees except the Leadership Succession Committee.

    Secretary 2026-2028: prepares and distributes meeting minutes and correspondence.

    Counselor 2026-2028: Oversees the induction of new student and nurse leader members. Must be a faculty member at the university affiliated with the Omicron Omega Chapter, Cal Poly Humboldt.

    Director [3 positions]: serves on the Board of Directors as a voting member, supports chapter initiatives as determined by the board, and may serve on committees or task forces as needed.

    2026-2028 Term: 2 Positions

    2026-2027 Term: 1 Position

    Leader Succession Committee 2026-2027: (three positions) Prepares the annual ballot, submits ballot to active chapter membership, tallies result of election and notifies all candidates of the results. Those serving on this committee are not permitted to be on the slate of candidates for officers. Committee usually operates April to June.

    Local Sigma Theta Tau Receives Investment for Local Nurses

    $10,000 Gift Strengthens Support for Nurses and Nursing Students

    Arcata, CA — Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Omicron Omega Chapter 382, is honored to announce a generous $10,000 donation from the Mad River Community Hospital Volunteers, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. MRCH Volunteers, Inc. is dedicated to supporting community health through philanthropy and service.

    This contribution directly strengthens opportunities for local nurses and nursing students by funding scholarships, educational programs, and community‑building events.

    “We are deeply grateful for this extraordinary generosity,” said a representative of Omicron Omega Chapter 382. “Support from the Mad River Community Hospital Volunteers, Inc. allows us to uplift local nurses, reduce financial barriers for nursing students, and create meaningful opportunities for learning, connection, and community.”

    For nearly three decades, Omicron Omega Chapter 382—affiliated with Cal Poly Humboldt—has fostered scholarship, leadership, and collaboration among nurses. The chapter’s annual scholarships, professional development offerings, and its well‑loved Nurses Night Out gatherings welcome all nurses and nursing students in the region.

    This donation ensures these programs continue to grow, strengthening the local nursing workforce and empowering the next generation of nurse leaders.

  • Annual Scholarship and Clinical Excellence Award!

    ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AND AWARD

    Omicron Omega Chapter 382 of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) announces its annual scholarship and clinical excellence award. 

    This year we are offering a scholarship for a student in the Cal Poly Humboldt RN-BSN program. 

    In addition, Omicron Omega provides an annual award to a Registered Nurse for Excellence in Clinical Nursing Practice.  If you know a nurse who deserves recognition for clinical excellence, please nominate your colleague for this prestigious award.
