Mu Psi is the Sigma chapter of the Presbyterian School of Nursing at Queens University of Charlotte.
We hope you will visit this website frequently, and will join your fellow chapter members

  • Mu Psi Research & Scholarship Award

    Dear Mu Psi Member,

    Annually, the Mu Psi Chapter of Sigma International nursing honor society grants scholarship and/or
    research awards to students pursuing graduate education in nursing and/or nurses involved in
    nursing research. All applications will be reviewed by the Mu Psi Research and Scholarship
    Committee. Awards will be based on the merit of materials presented. Only applications completed
    by active Mu Psi members will be considered for this award. Research award recipients will be
    required to serve as a speaker within the awarding year at one of the Chapter’s educational
    programs without an honorarium.

    Please submit the application on or before the deadline of Friday March 19, 2021. More details
    along with submission instructions are provided in the attached application within the documents section of our chapter page and e-mailed to active chapter members.

    The winner will be recognized at the Mu Psi Induction Ceremony on April 19, 2021 at 6 pm. Applicants please save the date in the event you are selected.

  • Mu Psi Chapter notice: Upcoming vacant positions-apply before it is too late!

    Greetings Mu Psi Chapter of Sigma Nursing! 

    I hope all of you are remaining safe throughout this pandemic. While COVID has taken our attention from our regularly scheduled program, time is still ticking and we must make plans to ensure that our chapter Board of Directors (BOD) positions are filled. 

    BOD POSITION VACANCIES: the few position terms that will be coming to an end on June 30, 2020 to include: 

    • 3 Governance Committee Member positions -currently filled by Karrie Love, Halie (Cozart) Cartner, and Brandy Santana
    • Secretary- currently filled by Dina Khentigan
    • President- currently filled by Veronica Rankin 

    All active members interested in any of the above bullet pointed positions (including those currently in those positions) please email me your name and the position you are interested in before midnight on Sunday, June 15th. In your email, please send me a few details about yourself including why you are the best candidate for the position you've chosen. I plan to send out a ballot on June 15th so that voting can commence and end on June 21st.     about Sigma’s mission, to learn about benefits/resources of Sigma membership, and to learn how to navigate Sigma’s national and chapter websites. Tamatha Arms, Region 13 coordinator, will open the session. This is a great opportunity to network and ask questions about Sigma!

    This meeting will be jam-packed with numerous speakers sharing exciting information to the chapter. Dr. Angie Hatley received the 2019 Mu Psi research scholarship for her Clinical Nurse Leader research project. Dina Khentigan received the 2019 Education scholarship to support her doctoral education endeavors. Dr. Annette Hines and Gwangia Hudson attended the 2019 Sigma Biennial Conference in Indianapolis. Come out and get updated about the work nurses are leading.

    A 30 minute business meeting will take place at 6p before the presentation. A presentation certificate will be offered for full attendance. Please arrive early, park in the visitor parking deck, enter through the main lobby and report to the kiosk to get a temporary badge. Dining Room #2 is on the 3rd floor by the cafeteria.   • Mu Psi Chapter Meeting October 17, 2019

    BUSINESS & EDUCATION MEETING

    Speaker: Amy Hicks, MSN, RN, ACCNS-AG, NEA-BC 
    Pressure Injury Reduction in the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit  

    Amy Hicks is a Radiation Oncology Nurse Manager at Levine Cancer Institute. She holds multiple certifications and is also experienced as a Magnet Program Director, CNS, ICU nurse, among other talents. Amy is currently completing her DNP Degree and is eager to disseminate her findings. Her presentation will center on an interdisciplinary EBP project she led to reduce pressure injuries in the ICU.
