Message from the President!

Dear Kappa Iota Members,

As we welcome the crisp air and new beginnings of the fall season, I’m delighted to share the exciting opportunities ahead for our chapter and community. The start of an academic year always brings renewed energy, and I encourage you to take part in the meaningful events planned for this semester.

On October 23rd, we are hosting a Storytelling Panel Discussion featuring some of our alumni who will share their experiences and insights with current nursing students. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from their journeys and strengthen the threads that tie our Sigma community together.

In addition, on November 13th, Threads of Hospice Conference will be hosted at Madonna University. This is a free continuing education event that promises to be a space for reflection, growth, and dialogue on one of the most impactful areas of nursing care. Flier with further details is below.

We also want to remind members that Kappa Iota offers funding to support scholarly activities, including attendance at professional conferences. Please consider applying—this is a great way to advance your career and contribute to our shared body of nursing knowledge.

We are also proud that some Kappa Iota members will represent our chapter at Sigma’s Biennium in Indianapolis this November. This international gathering is a time for inspiration, global networking, and advancing nursing scholarship. We look forward to hearing about ideas from this event to strengthen our local initiatives.

Looking ahead, our annual Induction Ceremony is scheduled for December 4th at 4:00 PM. Please join us in celebrating and welcoming the next group of nursing leaders into the Sigma family.

We are also preparing for an upcoming Call for Board Nominations. Serving on the Kappa Iota board is an incredible way to contribute to our mission, build leadership skills, and shape the future direction of our chapter. I hope you will consider stepping forward and sharing your talents in this way.

Finally, I am excited to share that we are working on a new collaboration with Oakland University’s Sigma Chapter. Together, we hope to bring you expanded networking and educational events in 2026—further strengthening the spirit of scholarship, leadership, and service.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to nursing excellence and to Kappa Iota. I look forward to connecting with many of you this fall as we continue to advance our mission together.

Warm regards,

Tracey Chan PhD, ANP-BC, FAANP President, Kappa Iota Chapter of Sigma
