Welcome to our newest members!

A Welcome Message from our Chapter President:

Hello and Welcome! My name is Hilary Gorgol, and I am honored to be serving as the President of Epsilon Tau At-Large. I am a 2014 Graduate of Saint Anselm College, where I was first inducted into Sigma and introduced to all that this chapter and organization have to offer. Since graduation, I have been working as an oncology nurse and thank the mentorship I gained through my involvement in our chapter’s board for the encouragement to pursue my dream job as an inpatient oncology nurse at Mass General Hospital in Boston. My previous service as a chapter secretary and president introduced me to the role Sigma played as a consulting body with the United Nations. Serving as a chapter delegate at the Biennial Convention in 2015 as a newly graduated nurse, I was inspired by the difference nurses could and were making throughout the world. This was further reinforced in attending the annual presentations from Sigma members and global leaders at the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women in NYC.

Through my time at the MGH Cancer Center, becoming a COVID ICU nurse, and my recent Nurse Practitioner licensing, it has been the educational, financial, and (most importantly) emotional support from my Sigma colleagues that carried me through. The Epsilon Tau At-Large chapter and the mentorship and growth I have gained from my involvement in it are truly responsible for my career growth and success. That is why my goal as President is to expand why we choose Sigma: furthering recruitment, retention, and the reality of what Sigma can do for its members. I encourage you to grow with us by joining a committee, attending one of our social or educational events, applying for a scholarship/research grant, taking advantage of Sigma’s free Continuing Education program (https://www.sigmanursing.org/nurse-learning-exchange), or joining me at the UN! As a global nursing organization, you have the power to take your Sigma membership anywhere you can dream of. Sigma nurses are changing lives daily and making the world a better place, and I am honored to be a small part of that with you! Please reach out with your goals and endeavors so that I might support you better through my role. I thank you for your trust in me and look forward to working with all of you!
