Beta Alpha Chapter, at Texas Christian University, is dedicated to fostering excellence in nursing scholarship, leadership, and community engagement. Whether you are a current member, prospective member, or just exploring what we do, we hope you find inspiration and resources to support your professional journey.

Facts about Beta Alpha Chapter:

  • Established in 1970 as the 47th chapter of Sigma Nursing
  • Currently have over 300 active members
  • Provide thousands of dollars yearly to support nursing students and nursing research through the Beta Alpha Scholarship, Beta Alpha Chapter Nursing Research Award, and the Hogstel Gerontological Nursing Research Award
  • Mentor future leaders through the leadership internship program
  • Partner with TCU Nursing to provide support for TCU Nurse Camp activities and scholarships for high school juniors and seniors interested in a nursing career
  • Offer affordable, reliable BLS certification classes for TCU Nursing students, faculty, and staff
  • Support the community through service projects including park clean up events, collection drives, community education, and monetary donations

    The Student Nurse Leadership Internship Program, hosted by the Sigma Theta Tau International Beta Alpha Chapter at Texas Christian University, offers a dynamic and exciting opportunity for nursing students to develop leadership skills and gain valuable hands-on experience in the operations of a prestigious nursing honor society.

    As an intern, you will have the chance to immerse yourself in a variety of leadership roles, contributing to meaningful Chapter events, service projects, and initiatives that impact both the local community and the nursing profession. Through this immersive experience, you will strengthen your skills in project management, event planning, and professional networking, while fostering personal growth and preparing for your future career in nursing leadership.

    Throughout the internship, you will actively engage in planning and leading service projects, assisting with the induction of new members, attending Chapter board meetings, and contributing to decision-making processes. This is a unique opportunity to refine your leadership abilities, collaborate with nursing professionals, and leave a lasting impact on your peers and the Chapter.

    The program also offers a valuable incentive: upon successful completion of your internship, you will receive a scholarship to cover the cost of your NCLEX exam fee—helping to support your transition from student to professional nurse.
