Bio
Chrystal Lewis is an Assistant Professor In the Adult Health Nursing Department in the College of Nursing at the University of South Alabama.
Her background is adult intensive care nursing. She currently teaches in the undergraduate nursing honors program, undergraduate nursing research and EBP, as well as graduate nursing theory, and EBP.
She received the 2011 Sigma Theta Tau International Educational Assessment Nursing Research Grant.
Her research interests include:
Psychological distress experienced by family members of ICU patients,
Particularly consideration of the effect of psychological distress in decision making and transition to of life care.
Health care providers' understanding of Palliative vs. Hospice Care
HCP's utilization of palliative care
Palliative care, particularly for patients with rare diseases
Vulnerable patient population experiences of institutional betrayal and mistrust in HCPs.
In addition, she has a personal interest in advocating for rare disease health promotion and research.
