Alpha Chapter of STTI RESEARCH GRANT

The purpose of the Sigma Theta Tau, Alpha Alpha Chapter Research Grant program is to support and encourage faculty, post-doctoral fellows, students (both undergraduate and graduate), and other nurses to contribute to the advancement of nursing through research.
NOTE: In this special call (May 2025), grants are exclusively designated for DNP student applications. Grants are issued in all categories occur during the annual call for applications in December.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Submit proof of meeting the following eligibility criteria with the grant application.
1. Member or becoming a member of the Alpha Alpha Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau in the Spring of 2025.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Application: Submit a one-page, single spaced abstract of the research/QI Project proposal.
· Research Proposal: include the purpose, background summary and proposed research methods (for example, research design, setting, sample, instruments/measurements, and approach to be taken). (Note: 0.5 inch margins, 11-point font)
· QI Project Proposal: Problem description with available knowledge from previous studies, purpose of the project, and methods (interventions, measures & proposed methods to collect data). (Note: 0.5 inch margins, 11-point font)
2. Include a second page with a brief budget showing how the money will be used. The budget should be consistent with the proposal.
3. Post-doctoral fellow(s) and students must include a letter of recommendation/support from a research mentor/academic advisor.
4. All the applicants must submit a copy of their IRB approval before funds are disbursed.
RESEARCH FUNDING:
1. Faculty, nurses in the community, graduate students (masters, doctor of nursing practice [DNP], predoctoral, and postdoctoral) are eligible for up to $1,000. Undergraduate students are eligible for up to $500. NOTE: for this special call, applications are being accepted for DNP students.
2. Allocation of funds is based on the quality of the proposed project and the research budget.
3. Once the research is completed, all recipients must prepare a final abstract and submit it to Alpha Alpha Chapter, with receipts indicating how the research funds were used. The grant recipients must also participate in the next Dr. Diane Berry Research Day (Spring) poster session.
