We am pleased to let you know that the chapter was well represented in Indianapolis at the recent Biennial Convention. Dr. Torica Fuller and Dr. Angie Mitchell were our chapter delegates. Dr. Fuller is our chapter’s Leadership Succession Committee Chair, and Dr. Mitchell is our Membership Counselor.
The role of the delegates is to represent the chapter at the House of Delegates meeting at the Biennial Convention. They vote on amendments to the bylaws, elect new officers, directors, and committee members.
Dr. Charlotte Swint, Chi Pi Chapter President, was excited to present a podium presentation along with Dr. Kelsey Kent about the work of Frontier Nursing University’s Research and Scholarly Works Committee entitled, “Responding to Faculty Research Literacy Needs at a Non-Research-Intensive University.”
Also, she was elected to the International Governance Committee for the 2026-2027 Biennium. She was also on this committee for the 2024-2025 biennium.

She was our Travel Grant Award Recipient. She presentated at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Transform Meeting in Anaheim, CA in December 2025.

I wanted to share the link for the 10-Year Anniversary Celebration. I want to thank Tia Andrighetti, Mary Borganelli, Vicki Burslem, Dwynn Golden, Angie Mitchell and Trish Voss for sharing stories with us about the founding of the chapter, starting the midwifery program at FNU, and memories of Frontier Nursing Service.

Chi Pi Scholarship Announcement Fall 2025
The Board of the Chi Pi Chapter is pleased to announce that the chapter will accept applications for scholarships for students currently enrolled in a FNP, WHNP, PMHNP, CNEP, or DNP program. You may be enrolled in an APRN education program at Frontier Nursing University or another accredited program. You must be a current member of the Chi Pi Chapter of Sigma.

Important Dates
Applications Open: Wednesday, November 5, 2025
Application Due: Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 11:59 PM
Scholarship Winners Notified: On or around December 12, 2025
Funds Sent Via Check to Winners: On or around December 19, 2025
Application Process
Please write a 250-400 word essay on your goals and aspirations as they relate to your education, career, and future plans. Explain why you are a qualified candidate and should be considered for the scholarship. Essays will be considered based on the following elements: 1) leadership and contributions to the profession of nursing; 2) community service and volunteerism; 3) clinical interests and goals.
AI should not be used to write the essay, and the use of AI will disqualify the application.
Please include the following information in the first paragraph of your essay: 1) your current GPA; 2) the name of the school you are attending; 3) the program designation (FNP, WHNP, CNEP, PMHNP, DNP); 4) your Sigma membership number at date that your membership will expire.
Please submit the essay as a pdf attachment. Word or Google Docs can be used, but a pdf is preferred.
Please send a current unofficial transcript to verify your GPA. Please see the GPA requirements in the rubric.

The informational session about the chapter will begin at 6:45 PM ET, followed by the official membership meeting at 7:00 PM ET. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Alex Hodges as our guest speaker. Dr. Hodges will present on The Climate-Health Connection: Nursing Leadership in a Changing World. If you wish to attend, you may join the meeting using this link.
Chi Pi will have two chapter delegates for the Biennial Convention in Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Torica Fuller and Dr. Angie Mitchell will serve as the delegates for the business meeting. The dates of the convention are November 8-12, 2025. The chapter is supporting the registration and travel for both delegates to this event as approved by the board.
In addition, Dr. Charlotte Swint and Dr. Kelsey Kent have been selected to present a podium presentation at the meeting. If you are planning to attend the convention or have had an abstract presented, please let Charlotte know. It would be great for chapter members to get together in Indianapolis!
This year Chi Pi is celebrating 10 years at FNU! We will celebrate later in the year. I wanted to share with you the original chapter charter. We still have charter members that are active in the chapter which is amazing! Stay tuned for ways you can contribute to the celebration!

I wanted to let you know that we did not have any applications for the travel grants. The Chi Pi board voted to donate the money that would have been awarded for the travel grants ($1500) to the Leslie County Community Foundation to support relief efforts for the flooding that occurred there recently.
