Hi Everyone,
With the recent closing of the temporary shelter at JMU our houseless neighbors could use our support. Rocktown Yarn and Great Full Goods are teaming up to make plarn sleeping mats, and we invite you to joins us!
Plarn sleeping mats are made using recycled plastic bags (plarn = plastic yarn). They are light-weight, easy to clean, and can be rolled up for easy portability. They help add a layer of protection from the ground for sitting and sleeping.
WHEN: Sunday November 6 from 1 - 4 pm
WHERE: Rocktown Yarn and Great Full Goods located in the Agora Market 165 S Main St #101, Harrisonburg, VA 22801
BAG DROP: Outside the SON office in HBS or with K. Jagiello
How can you help?
- Donate your clean plastic bags to Great Full Goods (the grocery-style bags work best).
- Donate/lend us scissors for our workday,
- Join us for one of our workdays where we assemble the mats (no knitting or crochet experience needed – if you can use a pair of scissors, you can help!)
- Feel free to bring other items to donate: new socks and underwear, feminine products, and travel-sized toiletries are usually in high-demand (please no mouth wash).
