We are excited to share that Sigma's North America Region 6 is sending out a Call for Abstracts. The submission window opens TODAY and ends November 5, 2024 at 23:59 Central. You are invited to submit an abstract for your research study, quality improvement project or evidence-based practice project. All three categories, in oral or poster format, will be considered for this momentous first regional symposium. The Conference Planning Committee wants to encourage student participants to submit a poster abstract and participate in our poster competition. Awards will be described in future announcements. Dear College of Nursing Faculty and Staff,  I am excited to share the plans for our annual distinguished lecture and faculty consultation which will take place during the day on Monday, November 8th, 2021. Dr. Suzanne “Suzie” Kardong-Edgren was nominated and competitively selected by our Research Committee as the 2021 Distinguished Lecturer. Dr. Kardong-Edgren is well-known across the nation for her leadership and  researcher in clinical simulation. A brief bio is provided below.  Faculty engagement with Dr. Kardong-Edgren will start at 10:30 am when she meets with faculty and staff who utilize clinical simulation and the SSH accreditation team for an interactive dialogue on use of clinical simulation. This one our session will continue over boxed lunch between 11:30am and 12:30pm.  The Distinguished Lecture, co-hosted by the College of Nursing and Phi Iota Chapter of Sigma, will take place from 1:00pm to 2:00pm followed by a reception celebrating the 10 years of Phi Iota history! Students will be invited to attend the lecture and reception.  Brief bio: Dr. Edgren served as the Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Simulation in Nursing for 10 years; and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of 2 new interactive online review guides for those seeking certification in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. She was awarded the National League for Nursing Debby Spunt Lectureship and the Michael Gordon Lectureship in Simulation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Dr. Edgren served as chair of the Research Committee for the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and the Vice President of Research for the INACSL.  She is a Fellow in the Society of Simulation in Healthcare, the Academy of Nursing Education Fellows, and the American Academy of Nursing.  Dr. Edgren is the President-elect of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation in Nursing and an Associate Professor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston.  Our annual lectureship provides a rich avenue of learning.
