This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Northeast Multi-State Division (NE-MSD), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

                                       

The missions of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), is advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.  Founded in 1922, STTI has roughly 500 chapters, with more than 135,000 active members from more than 85 countries worldwide.  

The Long Island Consortium is proud to celebrate Founders’ Day on Wednesday, October 7th, 2015 at Farmingdale State College.  We welcome Steven Baumann, RN, PhD.  

CV of Dr. Steven Baumann:

Present Position 

Professor at Hunter College and the Graduate Center of The City University of New York, currently teaching nursing theory, theory development, philosophy of science, ethics, geriatrics. 

I am currently also the Haiti Nursing Education Initiative Coordinator at Hunter College.

Nurse practitioner at Huntington Hospital, department of psychiatry.

Contributing Editor of Nursing Science Quarterly, global perspectives.

Secretary for Promoting Health in Haiti, a non-profit NGO providing nursing education in Haiti.

Education

 

Highest degree is PhD in nursing, from Adelphi University, 1990, 

Master’s degree in GNP from Hunter College (1998), 

Psychiatric Nursing Master’s Degree from the Catholic University of American (1982),

BSN from Molloy College (1978).

Full-time teaching of nursing since 1982, tenured at Molloy College in 1987, and at Hunter College 1995. Primary scholarship is using Parse’s Humanbecoming theory, Parse Research Method and Humanbecoming Hermeneutic Method.  Recently completed works are three studies of older adults, fear, boredom and suffering in later life, plus The Living Experience of Difficulty Telling the Truth.
