LGBTQ+ Health Community

Good afternoon everyone,

My name Is Elly Longoria

I am excited and honored to join the LGBTQ+ Health Community. I am currently a nursing student, and I am especially passionate about advancing health equity and creating safe, inclusive spaces for all patients and healthcare professionals.

I am particularly interested in the disparities that people of color face in healthcare not only as patients navigating a system that has historically underserved and marginalized them, but also as POC individuals working within the nursing profession. These dual experiences highlight the importance of representation, culturally competent care, and advocacy at every level of healthcare.I am eager to learn from this community and to grow in my understanding of how we can better support LGBTQ+ patients, especially those who also experience racial and ethnic disparities in care. I also hope to help foster conversations around building inclusive environments where both patients and healthcare workers feel seen, heard, and respected.I am interested in helping form a space within this community where we can openly discuss these intersecting challenges and share strategies, resources, and lived experiences that can drive meaningful change in nursing practice and healthcare systems. I would also like to ask would anyone be interested in joining a community space focused on people of color in nursing and the unique disparities we experience both as patients and as healthcare professionals?
