    Hello everyone!
I'm Tonda Hughes (she/her/hers), Professor and Associate Dean for Global Health at Columbia University School of Nursing in New York City. I am also Executive Director of the Center for Sexual and Gender Minority Health Research, which, as far as I am aware is the first and still the only such center in a school of nursing. I have been doing research related to LGBTQ+ health (mostly focused on mental health and alcohol use among lesbian and bisexual women) since the early 1990s. I'm also co-director of our World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for Nursing and Midwifery--so I'm very interested in LGBTQ+ health from a global perspective.

One of my passions is work that improves the nursing profession's ability to provide high quality, culturally relevant, respectful care to LGBTQ+ people. To this end I organized and led the first National Nursing LGBTQ Health Summit at Columbia University in 2019 [see Hughes et al. (2022). How can the nursing profession help reduce sexual and gender minority related health disparities: Recommendations from the National Nursing LGBTQ Health Summit. Nursing Outlook, 70(3),513-524.] I am currently working on a project focused on the transgender and non-binary (TNB) nursing workforce. I'm looking for information (research studies and grey literature) about this topic. The goal of the project is to educate nursing faculty and employers about TNB issues and to make recommendations for best practices. The scope of the project is global; the review will be published in a nursing journal and shared with members of the WHO/Pan American Collaborating Centers in Nursing.

I'd greatly appreciate any information you may have on this topic or suggestions for where I might look!

    Warm regards, Tonda

Such a privilege to have you join this group, Tonda! I was aware of the National Nursing LGBTQ Health Summit, and I am familiar with your recent publication "How can the nursing profession help reduce sexual and gender minority related health disparities: Recommendations from the National Nursing LGBTQ Health Summit"! If you could, I would love for you to share your publications in the Library around LGBTQ+ health.

You have such an exciting project right now regarding the TNB nursing workforce. I'm hoping this group will provide you with some leads and support.

Please share any LGBTQ topics you lecture on too.

Additionally, I would like to connect on how to create a center for Sexual and Gender Minority Research in a college of nursing.
