Subject: Greetings!
Greetings!
My name is Benjamin Lindsay. I am a Registered Nurse and recent graduate with my Master's. I identify as queer, non-binary, and pansexual. I am very fortunate to have had a positive experience. Since August I have had the opportunity to volunteer through the Trevor Project for approximately 3 hours a week. It is my way to be the resource I wish I had when I was younger growing up in a small town. Growing up in a small town is difficult and with limited visibility of who you feel on the inside. I choose to live my life outwardly visible to those that aren't able to based on their current situation. I began some education aside from my full-time position on Instagram through an account by the handle of @Ben.nby_RN.My goal for this account is to create a safe space for the distribution of LGBTQIA2S+, Nursing, and Nursing education information, be of positive influence in the LGBTQIA2S+ and nursing community on Instagram, and share, learn, collaborate and engage with other members in the Nursing, Nursing Education, and LGBTQIA2S+ communities.
After finishing my Bachelor's degree at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, I started as a new graduate RN in the Surgical ICU/Neuro CCU at Rochester General Hospital (RGH). I have really been able to feel successful in finding my footing as a new graduate nurse there. Through the fall of 2021, I began to think about ways that I could continue to gain experience. I have taken on the new role of Nursing Shift Supervisor at RGH and look forward to what may come. Through my networking, at RGH I came upon an opportunity to teach fundamentals clinical at Isabella Graham Hart school (IGH) for practical nursing students. With my experience at IGH igniting my passion for teaching I sought out opportunities to continue to grow. Roberts Wesleyan College's Nursing Education popped into my periphery and upon more research, I decided to apply and was accepted. As my experience comes to a close at Roberts Wesleyan I look forward to venturing into the world of Nursing Professional Development at Strong Memorial Memorial Medical ICU as a Unit Based Educator.
I am so excited to network, collaborate, and learn from this community.
