Hello Sigma members! We would like you to meet Emily Smith and Olivia Rackley! They are both in their senior year of nursing school at the University of Rhode Island. Below is a message from both students:
“Hello Sigma Delta Upsilon! Our names are Emily Smith and Olivia Rackley and we are your student leaders for the University of Rhode Island! We are both senior nursing students this year and intend on graduating this May. We came to the University of Rhode Island straight out of high school in 2019, both in the 4-year program. We actually became friends in our online microbiology class during the pandemic and have done a lot together since! We have gone through a couple clinical rotations together, but our favorite has been our psychiatric mental health rotation, which we did at Bradley Hospital. During that rotation we fell in love with psychiatric mental health nursing and we are happy to say we now work at Bradley Hospital, as behavioral health specialists. We intend on continuing our careers in psychiatric mental health nursing at Bradley upon graduation in May, and our focus population is the adolescent inpatient population. This semester we are in our critical care clinical immersion rotation. Emily is at Rhode Island Hospital (RIH), working on the Neurological Critical Care Unit or NCCU. Olivia is at Kent Hospital, working on a Geriatric Critical Care floor. Both Olivia and Emily became interested in Sigma after working with Ashlee Sackett DNP, APRN, ACCNS-AG in their second Medical-Surgical clinical rotation at RIH and learning more about the organization! We look forward to working with everyone in Sigma and hope to gain some lasting connections through being a part of this organization.” – Emily Smith and Olivia Rackley
Thank you both for sharing your stories!
