Nurses are many things, and they are many different people. They provide personal assistance, protect people and the nursing profession. They have the extraordinary ability to emerge as a leader. Leadership is an innate feature in their profession because, with their actions, nurses influence the overall health of people daily, often in complex operating conditions.
This interview is an opportunity to discuss excellence and leadership with two leading Nurses in Italy, both of whom have led a professional journey in leadership which has seen the fulfilment of their professional ambitions oriented to the growth of Nursing in our country.
Nursing in Italy has recently taken another step forward, particularly in Genoa at the Department of Health Sciences of the University of Genoa; here the Alpha Alpha Beta was launched, the first Italian Chapter of Sigma International. Alpha Alpha Beta represents the recognition of the work required by Sigma International, which lasted about three years, to meet the criteria required for the development of a Chapter Sigma also in Italy.
Sigma International is the largest nursing honorary company globally, with over 135,000 nurses and nursing students. Sigma promotes health in the world and recognises and celebrates the nursing excellence of knowledge, leadership and the role of nurses.
Since 1992 Sigma has been the international honorary society of Nurses and provides awards, knowledge sharing and opportunities on a national and global scale with the best Nurses in the world.
