I know that this is probably old news by now but I wanted to express my sincere appreciation to my Chapter Iota Nu for I had never attended this Conference before and was in awe of the extent of the attendance of nurses attending the conference. It was truly a testimony to the dedication that nurses have to their profession.

Nursing is not just a career but a vocation to minister to the sick and disabled in our society. As a nursing instructor, I am privileged to pass on my knowledge and values to those who will carry the profession of nursing forward. Florence Nightingale did exactly that in her life, leaving knowledge and science and yes attitude and values to those of us who have followed in her footsteps. This legacy that we each leave to the next generation is important for our profession in order to carry on the tradition that holds nursing to a higher standard. These values and attitudes are so evident in the biennial convention as we share the stories of our nursing careers with others throughout the world.

Even though we are a profession that is widespread throughout so many cultures we have a propensity to share the same "culture" of nursing knowledge, values and attitudes as a whole.
