I feel extremely honored to receive the 2012- 2013 STTI small grant. What has been even more exciting is that the small grant is the the first grant I received after finishing my PhD program. Just knowing that independent reviewers and experts deemed my first independently completed proposal fund-worthy really means a lot to me. My proposed study is to examine the relationships between
mental fatigue and engagement in cognitively stimulating activities in community-dwelling
older adults with cardiovascular disease risk factors. With the great support of the STTI small grant, findings from my pilot study will contribute to the development of a larger program of research designed to develop a fatigue sensitive multi-modal cognitively stimulating programs to slow cognitive decline for the group with cardiovascular risk. Besides, in fact, before this small grant, I also received another grant from STTI to complete my PhD dissertation project. I really appreciate the continuous support from STTI research grant when pursuing my research career. It really means a lot to me!!
