Open and Distance Education Learning Experience: A Continuity

"Education knows no boundaries."

In 2015, my journey toward open and distance education began when I took an online course on Financial Management in Nursing Practice (FMNP) at University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU). But this year, I enrolled in Research Utilization in Nursing Administration (RUNA) with a goal of becoming a research-oriented person. I was never been engaged in any research studies beside my thesis requirement but I am now gearing all my efforts for a strong research career in the years to come. Working on the course modules and participating in the forums were really exciting and fun and certainly very informative. The best thing was, I never felt any inferiority or fears of sharing what I know about research and this made me enjoy the course a lot. The course gave me a better perspective of research and I would highly recommend that every person become involved in research projects. Yes, doing research may not be easy but let us put in mind that beginning is always the hardest part in the process so never give up. Above all, I had a challenging and rewarding experience in RUNA.

Open and distance education taught me more about the value of time and commitment. Once you enroll in an online course, you should manage your time well and committed to completing the course no matter what. Remember, learning begets learning so the more you learn the more you want to learn. Therefore, I encourage everyone to keep swimming in the sea of knowledge and to inspire more nurses to continue their journey to lifelong learning.

Keep learning!
