This educational webinar will feature three community members from a Chicago-based recovery center who will share their lived experiences with substance use disorders, harm reduction, and peer support. Through personal narratives, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the realities of substance use, pathways to recovery, and the role of harm reduction and community-based treatment in promoting health and wellness. Learning directly from peer support specialists, this session aims to foster empathy, challenge stigma, and enhance understanding of recovery-oriented care.

Nursing students and nursing professionals will be encouraged to reflect on how lived experience can inform more compassionate, person-centered, and effective nursing practice across diverse healthcare settings.

This session is designed for nursing students and nursing professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of recovery-oriented care and improve patient engagement across healthcare settings.
