Epsilon Sigma at-Large Chapter

Our inaugural Run for the Scrubs 5k was a great success with thanks to all the participants, volunteers, and sponsors. As a result, we are donating a total of $10,000 in the form of nursing scholarships to deserving students at our institutions. Be on the lookout for the scholarship application as well as plans for next year's race!

Drs. Amy Knowles and Penny Neal attended the International Research Congress 2025 in July, where they presented findings from their pilot study, The Relationship Between Point-of-Care Tool Use and Nurses’ Self-Efficacy. The session was well attended, with an engaged audience who posed thoughtful follow-up questions. During the presentation, attendees were invited to participate in Phase 2 of the study and encouraged to share the opportunity with colleagues. This experience provided valuable engagement with educational and leadership thought leaders in the area of point-of-care tool use and helped shape the direction of the next phase of research. Dr. Amy Knowles extends her gratitude to the chapter for its support of this work.

🩺 Run for the Scrubs 5K – Backing Future Nurses!
Epsilon Sigma at-Large Chapter is thrilled to host our inaugural Run for the Scrubs 5K on September 13, 2025 at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville, TN! This fun and vibrant event brings together nurses, students, families, and community supporters to raise scholarship funds for future nurses from our five partnering universities: ETSU, LMU, King, Milligan, and Emory & Henry.

Participants will enjoy a scenic race course, fun race-day giveaways, and a celebration of our incredible profession. Whether you run or walk, or want to snooze and do virtual option- sign up today!!

Congratulations to Dr. Robin Foreman on being awarded the Sigma Epsilon Chapter at Large Research Grant. Dr. Foreman (working with Dr. Lisa Scholtz)  will be utilizing the funds from her award to explore student’s lived experiences with incivility, burnout, and coping in academic and clinical settings in Northeast Tennessee. Sigma is proud to support this important work.

We are excited to announce that we are hosting a 5K at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville on September 13. We are raising money for a nursing scholarship.  Save the date on your calendars.
