Innovations in healthcare are growing faster than most healthcare personnel can understand. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become commonplace in society, and its adoption in healthcare is growing. Currently, AI is used in various methods for diagnostics, auditing, and screening tools. But what is next for AI? Tandem VR^TM is a new complementary treatment option for hospice patients and their informal caregivers. Recent results show promise, but where will Tandem VR^TM go next? This presentation explores where AI in healthcare currently stands and where it could be going, incorporating Tandem VR^TM and other virtual reality (VR) modalities for how these technologies currently serve patient populations and student nurses, and where they may go next. With advancements in quantum computing, monitoring technology, and other methodologies, what is on the horizon could be even more profound over the next forty to fifty years for both practice and academia. Tandem VR™ is a virtual reality concept centered on sharing experiences with others.
