Career Mentoring and Coaching Program

Our career mentoring and coaching program reflects our commitment to you and your professional development. This members-only tool has been exclusively designed by Sigma members for Sigma members to connect and share experiences.

This program offers these unique features that you won’t find with other mentoring/coaching programs:

  • Broad-based content with diverse “specialty” mentoring/coaching areas, including but not limited to, clinical practice, advance education, academics, administration, research, leadership, global issues, authorship and publishing, and entrepreneurship
  • A four-tiered leveling approach for mentors/coaches and mentees to best meet the needs of nurses at different points in their career development
  • Opportunities for international mentorship
  • Opportunities for collaborative research in nursing mentorship that expands nursing’s body of literature

Complete your profile.
Make sure that your contact information is up-to-date and add your professional profile picture. Expand on your bio and import your education and job history information from LinkedIn. Having a complete and accurate profile is crucial to the success of selection and matching. Profile complete? Return back to this page and move on to step 2. 

Set your preferences, by clicking on the appropriate button below, to make your selections for each of the program demographics. Demographics include:

    Remember, some fields are required for enrollment. The more information you provide, the easier it will be to make the best match. You must be enrolled in the program to request a mentor or coach.

    After you've enrolled, search for a mentor or coach by selecting your criteria in the directory. You can do one search or multiple searches. If you are unsure of the search criteria, select "Search for ALL of the selected values."

    Click on the member's name that you're interested in establishing a connection with and visit their profile page. If you think it's a desired match, look under their profile image for the "Send Request" badge, which will allow you to request a connection. If it is not a desired match, you can simply select the back button to return to your previous search results.

    Reminder, you will need to complete step two (to enrolled in the program) to request a mentor or coach. 

    PROGRAM REQUIReMENTS

    Mentors/Coaches will…

    • Be an active Sigma member
    • Watch the program overview and expectation videos
    • Complete their mentoring profile
    • Complete mentor enrollment
    • Commit to a focused relationship with mentee
    • Provide insight, knowledge, and understanding in a professional and educational manner to benefit the professional growth of the mentee
    • Make a minimum time commitment of:
      • Mentoring relationships are typically six months with the option to continually renew
      • Coaching relationships typically last three months or less
    • Actively participate in Sigma evaluations during and after the match is made

    Mentees will…

    • Be an active Sigma member
    • Watch program overview and expectation videos
    • Complete their mentee profile
    • Complete mentee enrollment
    • Mentees are responsible for driving the relationship. Have clear goals for what you want to achieve from mentorship participation and take responsibility for pursuing those objectives by completing the Mentee Goal Setting Worksheet
    • Make a minimum time commitment of:
      • Mentoring relationships are typically six months with the option to continually renew
      • Coaching relationships typically last three months or less
    • Actively participate in Sigma evaluations during and after the match is made
