Changing climate patterns are occurring globally at unprecedented rates with significant impacts to health, such as heat-related illnesses, water and food insecurity, vector-borne illnesses, and respiratory disease. Additionally, with increased intensity of extreme weather disasters, such as hurricanes, wildfires, droughts, and flooding, the impacts of climate change on public health are apparent. Those in the health sector are seeing the challenges facing populations as a result of current and projected climate threats, and health professionals around the world are calling for action to protect against climate risks. Action to reduce climate change can significantly improve health, with policies that move us towards global climate goals having demonstrable health benefits. On this webinar speakers will provide a brief overview of how climate change impacts human health globally, the strategies and solutions to address climate change, and how nurses and nursing organizations can lead in moving forward just and equitable climate solutions.
